Open Arts Studio
Michelle Flood, an FSU art therapy student, will lead these studios for cancer patients, caregivers, family members, survivors. If you've never tried to do art or be creative, this is a good time to try something new. There is a growing body of research supporting the positive benefits of the creative process and intentionality. Researcher Herbert Bensen says the act of becoming absorbed in the creative process causes a shift in the state of functioning which he calls "remembered wellness". Come by and make "hope beads", origami cranes, paint a mandala, or some other interesting project. Held weekday mornings 10am until 12 noon, through December 9, 2011.

This class is offered by the FSU College of Medicine Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and is open to cancer patients, their family and friends, TMH colleagues, and any one in the community who would like to be free of tobacco. Nicotine Replacement Therapy is also offered as funds allow.
